Klara turned 4 months old yesterday on 10/02/16, but today is her 4 month doctors appointment. I am glad I got to get her official weight and height before posting on here… 🙂
Milestones: She begun rolling over (both ways) this month as well as sleeping through the night! Klara has explored so many things with her hands this month-books, toys, paper- even playing the ukulele a bit. She is already loving the TV (ahh!) and squeals and screams out of happiness which we love. The best part of Jacob and I was getting to see her laugh for the very first time on September 15th. I was laughing a lot with her, but it was Jacob’s fake sneezes that actually got her to laugh back at us. Clicking her tongue, lifting her butt while she is laying on her belly, and turning around in her crib during the night are all things she has done this month. Month 3 has been full of development and building new skills. We also signed up for a music class called Music Together where we explore music and movement along with meeting other kids & their moms. She really love the preview class so I am really excited that she will get some stimulation of this kind. Her favorite new activity is jumping in her Jumperoo and laughing at the little rain forest animals on it.
Height: 25 inches
Weight: 14 lbs 12 oz
Eye Color: blue
Hair color: light brown/dark blonde. Some people say it looks red but it isn’t.
Eating: We are still exclusively breastfeeding and won’t be adding any solids to her diet until she is at least 6 months old. We try to get her to accept a bottle and although it is going better, she definitely doesn’t like very much!
Teething: Our best guess is that Klara is beginning to teethe. She loves to suck on things, bring objects to her mouth, drool a ton, and sometimes gets fussy. We definitely aren’t sure if she really is or not, so we could be wrong, haha. Of course all babies love sucking on objects and drool a lot–who knows! On that note, she has figured out how to suck her thumb whereas before she would not know how to isolate her thumb.
Sleep: Klara sleeps through the night, and has been for most of this past month. Hallelujah! Lately, she has been going to bed around 8:30-9 at night and will usually sleep until 5 or 6 in the morning. Then she wants to nurse, I change her diaper, and will usually sleep again until 8 or 8:30 in the morning. As far as naps go, she has been having little snoozes in the morning, an afternoon nap (in her crib) that lasts 1-2 hours, and then a little evening snooze. This schedule has been so wonderful for us but I think that her sleep needs are going to be changing very soon here. Last night, she wouldnt go to sleep after put her to bed for about an hour. Babies sleep needs change around the age of 4 months because their sleep cycles begin to mature. I will be watching out and trying my best to understand her cues. If you want to know more, google “4 month sleep regression.”
Emotional/Cognitive Development: Now that she is more aware, she can get a little fussy at times but she is still so happy and giggly.
Cloth Diapering: We are now cloth diapering both day and night and it’s been going wonderfully. I was expecting to get worse rashes because of not being able to use Desitin, but we haven’t experienced hardly any signs of even a mild rash. Just the occasional redness that goes away the same day/after some airing out.
Night Routine: Clean diaper with both inserts, jammies, sleep sack, nurse. We will read a book if she isn’t already crying to nurse. 8:30-9pm
That’ll be all, folks!
Great update. I didn’t know about the music class. Are you still going?
Well now she is almost 5 months old…but yes we are still going. It’s an 8 week long class.
