Third Trimester-12 Weeks Left

Well well well, the third trimester is here.  I am 28 weeks pregnant and  I must say, most of the second trimester was good and I will miss am missing the ease of it.

My Weight Gain: Up about 15 pounds overall.  It is recommended I gain anywhere from 25-35 pounds throughout the pregnancy.  I don’t think there will be any problem there 🙂

Her Size: Klara is nearly 15 inches long from head to foot and weighs about 2.25 pounds.

Sleep: My sleep is still interrupted once per night by my bladder.  I have never been one who enjoys sleeping on my back, but nowadays, that is really the only position that I like.  And it is not recommended for me or any pregnant woman to sleep [flat] on her back! I propped some pillows up the other night and laid on my back to fall asleep after being up at night for 2 hours.  It actually did the trick and it’s so strange how things change.

Cravings: Chocolate Chip Cookies. Chocolate… (I need to get it under control…)

Morning Sickness: has been eradicated!  No Unisom!  No extra Vitamin b6!  Ding dong, the witch is dead!

Movement: Much more consistent movement on most days.  However, I usually don’t notice much movement when I am running around at work (so much running around and pushing and pulling..) but when I rest I can feel her.  In fact, just this past week at 27 weeks I could actually feel her in multiple places all at once, spanning the length of my belly which is quite exciting.  The movements are more than just pokes and jabs now, I can feel continuous movement that lasts more than just 1 second.  More importantly, Jacob FINALLY felt her kick!  He put his ear to my belly (seeing if he could hear something) and she popped him right in the ear haha. That was a special moment.  Just yesterday I could actually see her moving on my belly and I am absolutely loving it.

This week, there are a few exciting things going on.  Friday the 11th I will be taking my glucose test so I am really hoping the results are all good there.  The glucose test will tell whether or not I have gestational diabetes and most everyone has to do it.  In the middle of that, I will be having my check up to make sure everything is going smoothly.  Later in the day, we are going to get a 3D ultrasound which we cannot wait for!  We’ll also get to learn more about her position and other little things, but not too much since this won’t be a diagnostic ultrasound.  However, we will get to see her face and I am sure the whole experience will be nothing short of spectacular.

Work has been much harder ever since my last update.  I spend a lot of time pushing around furniture and chairs- leaning, bending, reaching, kneeling, walking…it can be really tiring especially for my back.  It’s been getting increasingly worse.  If I forget to drink enough water, it’s over. Mostly, however, I am glad that my job does not restrict me to a desk because for pregnant people, exercise is good.  Even so, I am starting to worry that there will be a point where it all gets to be too much to do full time.  I have some pain and issues as I am writing this and it just feels stupid to continue to do things that will make the pain worse.  I will be asking my midwife about it on Friday to see if my activity level could be too much and if she recommends anything. My last day of work is set to be May 19th (10 days before my due date) so we will see how it all goes.
